The Opalaca highlands are home to the Lenca Indians: an ancient people who traded with their Mayan cousins. At 5,800 ft. elevation, in the remote cloud forests of Honduras, hillside farmers grow beans and corn to feed their families, but rely solely on coffee for a cash crop.
Nestled on the southern slope of the Opalacas is a quiet Indian village, Yamaranguila, home to Mercy International. Mercy is committed to a vision of restoration in the lives and lands of the Lenca Indians. As an agriculture outreach, Mercy works alongside coffee growers building relationships and teaching sustainable coffee prodution methods.
Your purchase of Opalaca Gold helps support the Lenca coffee farmers of the Opalaca Mountains. Join Mercy's mission to the Lenca and enjoy an excellent cup of Honduras finest high grown coffee, Opalaca Gold.
Opalaca Gold is roasted to its peak aroma to accentuate its distinctive flavor profile: a delightful balance of bright acidity and creamy full body.
